The Be You Virtual Conference is a free two-day event, where we unpack key topics and practical strategies to promote mental health and wellbeing in learning communities.

The Be You Virtual Conference is delivered by subject matter experts from the Be You team at Early Childhood Australia, headspace and Beyond Blue, industry experts and, educators themselves.

This year, the theme of the Be You Virtual Conference is Building Capacity to Thrive.

Over the two days, we will explore what it means to “thrive”, and practical approaches to build a resilient, inclusive and thriving learning community.

Virtual conference speakers will demonstrate how Be You exists to help educators, leaders and learning communities build capacity with an intent to flourish and thrive.

Learning Communities have the capacity to thrive when resilience is developed, educator wellbeing is prioritised, and diversity is celebrated.

Sub-themes of 2023 Be You Virtual Conference

  • Resilience – building capacity towards and the resilience and recovery journey of the learning community
  • Educator wellbeing – prioritising wellbeing to build capacity so that educators can flourish and thrive
  • Diversity and Inclusion – building capacity to connect and create inclusive learning communities

The Be You Virtual Conference is for educators and leaders working in early learning services or schools, as well as those in pre-service or training.

Each session across the two-day event has been designed with our educators and their learning communities in mind.

The Be You Virtual Conference is for:

  • Educators across Australia who want to connect and grow together, so every child, young person, educator, and learning community can thrive.
  • Education leaders across Australia who are seeking to connect, discover and share strategies to build resilient, inclusive, and thriving learning communities.

The 2023 Be You Virtual Conference will be held on 3-4 May.

Day 1: Wednesday, 3 May. Sessions will run from 11am to 3.30pm AEST.

Day 2: Thursday, 4 May. Sessions will run from 1.30pm to 6.30pm AEST.

The Be You Virtual Conference is run entirely online and is free to attend.

You can choose to attend one or multiple sessions. Decide what suits your needs, interest and availability.

Be You is currently seeking accreditation in NSW with NESA and the ACT with TQI.

If you are an educator wanting to:

  • build capacity to support children and young people as they experience life’s ups and downs.
  • build capacity to support children and young people to achieve their best possible mental health and wellbeing.
  • seek strategies that prioritise your wellbeing that your whole learning community can support.
  • find opportunities to connect and celebrate diversity in your learning community.

If you are an education leader looking to:

  • develop and foster resilience in your learning community.
  • build your capacity to support children, young people and educators to achieve their best possible mental health and wellbeing.
  • discover strategies that promote and prioritise educator wellbeing in your learning community.
  • seek strategies to encourage every child, young person, educator, and family to be included and belong to your learning community.

Day 1: What does it means to ‘thrive’?

Explore what ‘thriving’ what looks like and means to different people and in different contexts; self-development principles; how personal growth supports mental health and wellbeing and develops resilience; connections between adaptability and growth mindset; help seeking and personal wellbeing (educator experience); connecting and engaging with diverse groups of children, young people and families.

Day 2: Practical approaches for a thriving Learning Community

Discover practical steps educators can take to help themselves and their learning community thrive. Sessions will adopt a more interactive approach where educators can workshop techniques under the guidance and facilitation of subject matter experts.

Registration and Cancellation Queries

There is no need to cancel your registration if you are unable to attend. Recordings will be available four weeks after the live event here: beyou.edu.au/virtual-conference.

Information about accessing the event on the day

Click here to visit the website to register for the event. We will email you the link to join the platform on 3-4 May 2023 so that you can access the event.

Yes, you can attend either day one, day two, or both days of the conference. Use the same access link in your event confirmation email to access each day.

The Virtual Conference will also be recorded, and the recordings will be available within 4 weeks of the live event, along with materials relevant to the topics discussed. You will be able to access the recording via Be You Virtual Conference page.

If you are experiencing any technical difficulties, please email us at eventservices@cliftons.com with a screen shot of the error or explaining what issue you are facing at your end.

Professional Development Accreditation and Certificate of Attendance Queries

You will receive your certificate of attendance within two weeks of the event. You will only receive a certificate of attendance if you watch the Be You Virtual Conference live on 3 and 4 May 2023. You will not receive a certificate of attendance for watching the Be You Virtual Conference recordings.

Please fill in the survey at the end of day one or end of day two to specify details of additional attendees who require a certificate of attendance. Alternatively, email beyouevents@beyondblue.org.au with the first name, last name and email address for those additional attendees.

The 2023 Be You Virtual Conference is a TQI-accredited event. You will only receive accredited professional development hours if you watch the Be You Virtual Conference live on 3 and/or 4 May 2022. You will not receive accredited professional development hours for watching the Be You Virtual Conference recordings.

The program Building capacity to thrive has been approved for 7 hours of ACT Teacher Quality Institute accredited professional learning.

An ACT teacher who partially attends is accredited for the hours they attend (full hours only, rounded up), up to the maximum total of 7 hours. If ACT teachers attend one session at the conference, they will quality for one hour of TQI accredited professional learning. If they attend two sessions, they will qualify for two hours etc. up to 7 hours which is the full conference duration across the two days. The Be You Team will ensure these accredited hours are reported through the TQI portal.

Please ensure your correct TQI Number and State/Territory are added to your My Profile page.

Your attendance at the Be You Virtual Conference will be recorded on the TQI portal within 10 days of the live event.

An ACT teacher who partially attends is accredited for the hours they attend (full hours only, rounded up), up to the maximum total of 7 hours. If ACT teachers attend one session at the conference, they will quality for one hour of TQI accredited professional learning. If they attend two sessions, they will qualify for two hours etc. up to 7 hours which is the full conference duration across the two days.

Please ensure your correct TQI number and State Territory are added to your My Profile page.

Yes, the Be You Virtual Conference is a NESA  accredited event. NESA Accreditation (NSW). You will only receive accredited professional development hours if you watch the Be You Virtual Conference live on both 3 and 4 May 2023. You will not receive accredited professional development hours for watching the Be You Virtual Conference recordings. You will not receive accredited professional development hours for partial attendance.

The 2023 Be You Virtual Conference is a NESA-accredited event.  

Completing Be You Virtual Conference 2023 – Building capacity to thrive will contribute 6 hours and 30 minutes of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Student/child Mental health addressing standard descriptors 1.1.2 and 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW. 

 

Teachers must participate in the whole conference whole of day one and whole of day two) to receive accredited hours. The Be You Team will ensure these accredited hours are reported through NESA eTAMS. Please ensure your correct NESA Account Number and State/Territory are added to your My Profile page.   

To receive accredited hours you must be registered to attend the conference. 

Please note, if you were absent for any part of the course (e.g., you attended two hours on day one and two hours on day two, and missed some of the sessions), the number of hours attended may be recorded as Elective PD through NESA eTAMS. If you attended only one full day of the conference those hours can be recorded as Elective PD through NESA eTAMS. 

Virtual Conference Recordings
